Our three acre block produces a stunning handcrafted, single-vineyard Pinot Noir wine. We also offer an award winning Bellarine Chardonnay.
At Ponda, we are committed to using sustainable and eco-friendly viticultural practices – our low-yielding vines are hand tended, sheep and chooks work the block to sort out weeds/bugs and provide fertilisation for the vines, and family/friends help us hand pick our grapes at harvest time. Our pure-bred heritage Southdown sheep are short in stature (around 50cm at the shoulder) – ideal for a vineyard as they duck beneath the vines and leave the grapes alone – in North America they are commonly called ‘babydolls’.
The cellar door is always open on the first weekend of every month but check please check the Ponda Estate Facebook page for other opening times.
Tastings are relaxed, informal and can involve a walk out to the vineyard to visit the sheep and their guardians, two Maremmas called Gus and Lu.
Visitors are always welcome at other times by appointment.
